On the morning of Election Day, a depressed Patia confesses to Kition that she wants to drop out of the race. Admiring the strong relationship shared by Raclitus and Zarazustra, Kition surprises Patia by dropping out first, stating she owes Patia and vows to be her sword. Thus Patia is convinced to stay in the race.

It's the morning of the election, and Patia is standing in front of the school gate before students are scheduled to arrive.

Kition

What are you doing here? Campaigning ended yesterday.

Patia

I'm just chilling. I could ask you the same thing, Kition.

Kition

I was on my way to the committee office to lift weights. Can't do it in my room or else my roomie'll get pissy.

Patia

You're going to lift on such an important day?

Kition

I haven't had the chance to workout since campaigning started.

Kition

My muscles are crying for some love.

Kition

Oh, and before I forget again, I need to thank you for saving me from that monster.

I messed up. At this rate, I'll never catch up to—

Patia suddenly bursts into tears, sending Kition into a panic.

Kition slowly takes Patia's hand and looks at her with piercing eyes.

Kition

I'll support you, so you have to become the president.

Patia

Wait, wait, wait!

Patia

Why me? What about the people voting for you!

Kition

From the very beginning, I was only in it for myself because I wanted to surpass the head prefect.

Patia

Seriously?

Patia

Kition

Because I'm pissed.

Patia

Huh?

Kition

Patia offers the smallest smile as she clenches her fists with determination.

The morning sun shines down on both girls as if to bless them on the path forward.

With Kition out of the race, Gran and Patia are sequestered together in a waiting room while votes are being tallied. Once Gran is locked away, Egans confronts the crew, revealing he knows about the girl in blue.

Election Day has barely begun and the news is already spreading like wildfire.

Raclitus

Have you heard about Kition?

Lyria

Yeah... She dropped out of the race.

Vyrn

Why'd she do that at the last minute?

Raclitus

I have no idea. I'm as shocked as you are to be honest.

Raclitus

Seems her supporters are confused as well, so she probably didn't discuss it with anyone.

Raclitus

Whatever the case may be, her share of the votes are now in the mix.

Raclitus

She's endorsing Patia, but it's hard to tell which way this election'll go.

Vyrn

Doesn't really matter since we can't do any more campaigning today.

Raclitus

Not only that, but since it's down to you two, we're skipping the primary and going straight to the final vote.

Someone will be around shortly to escort Gran to the waiting room.

An election committee member arrives on cue.

Gran is brought to the waiting room.

Only the two candidates can go in there, right?

Raclitus

There's nothing special about the room itself.

Raclitus

But as per school policy, once a candidate steps in, they can't step out until the votes have been tallied.

Then the next time we'll see Gran...

Is when the next student council president has been selected.

Vyrn

All we can do is wait. It's so hard to sit still though.

As far as we're concerned, getting Gran elected is only half the battle.

True... The biggest problem comes after getting the president's authority to change school policy.

While you're stuck in there, Gran, ya might as well take an extended breather.

You've been up every morning at sunrise workin' your tail off.

Eugen

Rackam's right 'bout there bein' more to come. No point in goin' on if you're too tired to stay awake.

Gran nods and prepares to go inside.

Take care of things for me while I'm out.

Rackam

Okay. Not sure what else we can do though.

Dialogue Option

Can't wait to see the results.

You worked hard for it. I'm sure the results will be great!

As Gran pushes the door open, Lyria calls out from behind.

Lyria

Wait! Um, be careful, okay?

Vyrn

Careful of what? It's just a room.

Lyria

Oh, I know, but still... I get a little nervous when I'm separated from Gran...

Dialogue Option

It'll be okay.

Lyria

Yeah... I know you'll be fine no matter what happens!

Dialogue Option

You be careful too, Lyria.

Lyria

Hehe... Looks like we both caught the worry bug.

Gran enthusiastically waves goodbye to reassure Lyria.

And so the crew is without their captain until the votes have been tallied.

Katalina

Now we wait.

Let's hurry and go vote, Lyria!

I don't wanna have to push through a crowd to get my vote in.

Okay! Where was the polling place again?

Egans

Hello there. May I have a moment of your time?

Katalina

Principal Morris! We're free right now, but Gran has already—

Egans

Hohoho! Why yes, I'm quite aware of that. Quite aware indeed.

Egans

Actually, I've come to see someone else.

Egans

A certain... girl in blue who commands the power of primal beasts.

Lyria

The smiling principal casually reveals that he knows Lyria's true identity.

In return, the crew comes to understand the sinister intent behind his gentle smile.

As the two candidates wait for the election results, Patia opens up about herself and thanks Gran for helping her become a different person. The mood is light until Gran inexplicably feels a wave of dread; Vyrn bursts into the room with news that Egans has kidnapped Lyria.

Though the candidates expected their waiting room to be a typical classroom, they're surprised to find it lacks any distinguishable qualities.

Reaching out a hand, Gran nonchalantly tests the door.

Due to the primal beast's power, the door doesn't move at all. It may as well not exist.

Patia

It won't open, you know. Not until voting is over and the ballots are counted. That's school policy.

Dialogue Option

It's cozy in here.

Patia

S-sorry. If I'm bothering you, just let me know, and I'll go sit quietly in a corner.

Dialogue Option

I didn't know we'd be sharing a room.

Patia

I'm surprised too. I was expecting to be split into separate rooms.

With nothing left to say, the candidates go quiet. Time ticks away.

Patia

Waiting in silence is too much to bear, and Patia is the first to speak up.

Patia

Hey, I'm going to talk out loud, but if it's annoying, I'll shut up again.

Patia pauses for a moment, then speaks her mind as if she were alone in the room.

Patia

I regretted accepting Zarazustra's nomination for the longest time.

Patia

How could he saddle me so much expectation? The pressure was suffocating.

Patia

Yet in the back of my mind, I was happy knowing he was counting on me.

Patia

The fear I felt was very real though. Fear of betraying his confidence. Fear of being a disappointment.

Patia

Because in my heart, I knew I was useless.

Patia

But that, as it turns out, was only an excuse I made to run away.

Patia

I'd been trying so hard to have no expectations for myself.

Patia

No expectations means no disappointment. I don't think it's fair to keep disappointing a guy who can't take a hint.

Patia laughs at her own expense, but her attitude seems to brighten.

Patia

That's pretty much the mindset I've been living with, and I didn't think it'd change.

Patia

Eventually, with help from heavy-handed prodding of course, I realized how many people were cheering for me.

Patia

Zarazustra, Kition, not to mention you and your friends.

Patia

It's exhausting not being complacent. It really is. I admit I was being rash when I promised to put in the effort.

Patia

But it finally lit a fire under me.

Patia

I have a lot of people to thank, including you, Gran, for not letting me take the easy road.

Patia looks directly at Gran, intent on expressing her gratitude.

Patia

Now that I've come this far, I've changed my mind. I want to win the election.

Patia

The seeds were planted that one morning when you guys told me we should give it our all.

I don't plan on losing.

Patia

Mm. I figured you weren't the type to lose, be it an election or a battle.

Dialogue Option

No hard feelings.

Patia

Haha. Well, we both have an equal chance of winning.

Patia

Sorry for droning on and on, but it felt good to finally come clean to you.

Patia

Maybe that's the reason we were shut in here together—to get our affairs straightened out.

Suddenly Gran's entire body is overcome with nausea.

Dialogue Option

There's no discernable change to the room, yet Gran is clearly suffering from adverse effects.

The captain's body trembles violently despite not being sick. Then the door to the room suddenly swings open.

Vyrn

You gotta come quick, Gran! The principal kidnapped Lyria!

Gran and Patia are thunderstruck by Vyrn's revelation.

It's just a glimpse of the island's twisted reality that they must soon overcome.

Vyrn tells Gran that Egans used his private security forces to capture Lyria. Even though Raclitus and Io are committee members, an unknown force seemed to prevent them from fighting back. Patia wonders what this all means; Gran tells her the whole truth about the crew, then joins the search for Lyria.

Moments after Gran enters the waiting room, Lyria and the others are faced with a predicament.

Egans

Actually, I've come to see someone else.

Egans

A certain... girl in blue who commands the power of primal beasts.

Egans has revealed he knows about Lyria. Katalina and the others immediately tense up for action.

Katalina

So you've discovered our true identities, have you?

Egans

Viceroys have a special connection with the primal beasts deployed on their islands.

Egans

The girl in blue's existence is special in the eyes of our primal.

Egans

Thanks to that, I was able to sense Lyria's power, if only for an instant.

Rackam

You let us do what we wanted even though you knew who we were. Why not confront us directly?

Egans

Because I've been waiting for this moment.

Egans gives a signal, and the crew is surrounded by armed soldiers.

What gives? This ain't what we were told.

Eugen

They ain't council or disciplinary members. How come they get to push us around?

Yeah! Before we joined the committee, we couldn't even move if we thought about fighting.

Raclitus

There are no exceptions to school policy.

Raclitus

As long as you're on this island, you have to follow the rules, regardless of whether you're the principal or viceroy.

Egans gives another signal, and the ring of soldiers closes in.

Egans

Egans

Despite all their threats, the crew is forced to helplessly watch as Lyria is taken away.

Who knew a primal beast of school policy would turn out to be this dangerous.

Vyrn

This sucks! Someone's gotta be able to do somethin'!

Lyria

Nooo! Katalina!

Katalina

Stay strong, Lyria! We'll definitely find a way to save you!

Who the heck knows? Anyway, we split up to look for her.

Vyrn

The primal beast is probably somewhere in the main school building.

Patia

Wait! What about the election!

Since secrecy no longer seems to matter, Gran gives a quick summary of who they are and their purpose.

Then Gran is out the door in a flash, leaving Patia to stand alone, her mouth agape.
