Zarazustra tells the crew that the True King had ordered a crackdown on the BLF. Some time afterward, Duat's viceroy received a letter which exposed the name of the BLF's leader as Ruby Pop Irotis. The True King, Otherworld, and BLF all seem to have a vested interest in Raclitus. Guillota needs to interview Raclitus, which requires permission from the White Knight.
Katalina
I hate to make you repeat yourself, but can we go over the details again?
Guillota
Sure. Take it away, Zarazustra.
Zarazustra
Right.
Zarazustra
It began when the True King toughened the laws on handling the Blue Liberation Front.
Zarazustra
Anyone in connection to the BLF, regardless of the level of their involvement, was arrested and imprisoned.
Katalina
And Raclitus was one of those people.
Zarazustra
Correct. His only sin was for wearing a blue scarf, the BLF's symbol of uprising. He was arrested and summarily sentenced to death.
Zarazustra
I doubt anything he said made a difference.
Guillota
It wasn't just him either. Other supposed conspirators were fed through the court system and immediately tossed into the meat grinder.
Katalina
You mean they've already been...
Guillota
Mm-hm. Chop, chop, chop. One after another, the death reports slammed onto my desk. Things were looking bad for our boy.
Guillota
The BLF's movements have always been talked about over the years, but now the kingdom has suddenly decided to clamp down hard and fast.
Katalina
Almost as if Istavion had no choice...
Zarazustra
Even His Majesty is mobilizing assassins...
Rosetta
And that's just for starters. Now the prosecutor claims he was targeted by an Otherworldly being.
Rackam
Yeah. I mean, the True King goin' after Zarazustra and Guillota sorta tracks, but what's the Otherworld's stake in this?
Vyrn
Okay, so... Raclitus living is bad for the True King, so the True King is trying to get in Guillota's way?
Lyria
But if the Otherworld gets rid of the prosecutor, that's like their way of opposing the True King?
Io
The Otherworld's trying to keep Raclitus alive? But why?
Katalina
Too bad we have nothing to go on. Have you noticed any changes that we should know about?
Guillota
Actually...
Katalina
You thought of something?
Guillota
I've never heard of those Otherwhatevers, so I don't really know if this is related or not...
Guillota
But the BLF has gone quiet in the wake of the execution spree. There hasn't been a new arrest in a while.
Guillota
The kingdom's still on high alert though. Maybe because of the letter that came in the viceroy's mail.
Guillota
It only had one sentence: the mastermind behind the Blue Liberation Front is Ruby Pop Irotis.
Rosetta
I've never heard that name before. Where did the letter come from?
Guillota
The sender is anonymous of course. Some speculate it was sent by none other than Irotis.
Lyria
Why would Irotis send a letter revealing their own name?
Eugen
Hmm...
Eugen
Could be a ploy. Sorta like, we're gonna lull you into thinkin' we stopped so we can make our move.
Guillota
Yeah. I would assume they already calculated the risk-reward breakdown of revealing that name.
Guillota
Anyway, as far as big incidents go, the exposure of Ruby Pop's name is about it.
Zarazustra
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have any bearing on reducing Raclitus's sentence.
Eugen
I wouldn't jump the gun just yet. There could be a hint about how to save Raclitus among all these behind-the-scenes incidents.
Guillota
Y'know, you might be onto something...
Zarazustra
Huh?
Guillota
Think about it. What do the True King, BLF, and—let me make sure I have this right—"Otherworld" have in common? They're all fighting over one little boy.
Eugen
Instead of goin' for Raclitus directly, they're tryin' to be all sneaky with backroom shenanigans.
Eugen
Feels like they're makin' a mountain out of a molehill with our boy Raclitus as the base. Poor kid barely has anything to do with the BLF.
Guillota
It seems all three sides have a vested interest in the kid.
Katalina
I see. Then if not to punish Raclitus for his crime, a different reason for sentencing him to death is to...
Rackam
Actually have it reversed, depending on what the True King's real plan is?
Guillota
Maybe. If only we could hear a testimony from Raclitus himself...
Guillota
Interviews with him are off-limits, but an investigation had to have been conducted. I bet we could piece together a motive for the execution if we had that report.
Io
Wait, what? He's the one on trial, and no one's even allowed to talk to him?
Zarazustra
No, not even me. "Any individual who can be linked to the BLF in any way is prohibited from seeing the accused," they said.
Guillota
His Majesty wants zero chance of a conspirator slipping in to break Raclitus out.
Guillota
No family, no defense, no prosecution. The viceroy tried to appeal but no dice. A restriction like this is unprecedented.
Vyrn
I don't know what that sneaky king is up to, but I do know he's not the type to bargain with.
Zarazustra
What if we were to ask someone who has been given His Majesty's authority?
Zarazustra
The White Knight should be on this island. He might grant us permission.
Rosetta
I see. There are other ways to get around talking to the True King.
Guillota
Haggle with a Luminary knight? Talk about scary.
Guillota
I don't mind giving it a shot, but is he going to have time on his schedule?
Rackam
A king's delegate probably doesn't get days off.
Lyria
Um...
Lyria
I think we can create a chance to talk to the White Knight.
All eyes turn to Lyria, who has timidly raised her hand.
Io
How? And please don't tell me you wanna use us as bait...
Lyria
No, nothing like that. I'm actually not sure it'll work, but—
After hearing Lyria's plan, they consider whether they should follow through.
