After the collapse of the Erste Empire, Pommern remained in Agastia with a few loyal subordinates because he couldn't abandon the citizens. He agrees to help the crew rescue Orchis once he learns of the situation.

Gran and the crew come face-to-face once again in Agastia with Pommern, who leads a band of soldiers.

They explain that Freesia has taken Orchis and ordered them to come to Agastia for a trade-off.

Pommern

I see. I understand your situation very well.

So why are you here, Major Mustache? And who are these soldiers?

Pommern

The name's Captain Pommern, I do say! You'd best remember it!

After his snappy response, Pommern gestures toward the soldiers and clears his throat to speak.

Pommern

They are my trusty subordinates who've agreed to follow my lead, you see.

Pommern looks into the distant sky as he recalls their last fight.

Pommern

After that battle, Erste Empire had practically fallen, you see.

Pommern

Some efforts were made by the higher-ups in the government and military to pull the empire together.

Pommern

But because the prime minister was quite thorough about keeping secrets...

Pommern

Or perhaps because the empire's foundation was ultimately weak, those higher-ups put themselves first.

Pommern

On top of that, the Erste Kingdom announced their restoration in Mephorash, you see.

Pommern

The people of Agastia began moving to Mephorash and other islands.

Pommern's eyes narrow as he thinks of the prosperous cities far away from here.

Pommern

However, there are many people in Agastia who are unable to move from the city.

Pommern

I couldn't just turn my back on them.

Pommern

The path I've chosen may be different from what the country intended for its military.

But luckily, a few of my deputies agreed to stay with me here in the city.

But Lyria is saddened and hangs her head low as she begins to speak.

It wasn't abandoned. Orchis was always concerned about Agastia.

Katalina

Yes, but in the state it's in right now, Erste Kingdom doesn't have the power to help Agastia.

Hearing this, Pommern's mouth twists into a bitter smile.

Pommern

How kind of her, considering Erste Kingdom has its own pile of problems, I do say.

Pommern

However, her kindness won't do us any good if she's all tied up.

Lecia

Are you saying you'll help us get her back?

Pommern

A problem's been brought to our doorstep in Agastia, regardless of the reasons.

Pommern

As the peacekeepers here, we can't allow this to be ignored, I do say!

Gran and the crew have found an unforeseen ally in the lawless town of Agastia.

Along with Pommern and his troops, Gran and the crew make their way to the tower.

Lyria spots a decrepit food stall in the street which prompts Pommern to reminisce about happier times and vows to bring back those peaceful days. A townsperson recognizes Pommern and reports seeing Freesia with a young girl walking through an abandoned area.

Gran and the crew are headed for the tower with Pommern and his soldiers in tow.

Along the way, they come across a desolate area of shops.

Lyria

Hm? Oh-den? What's that?

Lyria points to a single abandoned stall.

Katalina

Ah, oden is a local dish from Auguste.

Katalina

I think it's a mix of ingredients like dried fish and seafood stewed in fish stock.

Lyria

Hm...

Lyria

Oops, I'm sorry! I didn't know that word, so I was just curious.

Lyria

Let's just hurry and rescue Orchis!

Lyria begins to walk quickly, but Pommern catches up and matches her stride.

Pommern

That oden there had a unique flavor, I do say.

I'll make sure to turn Agastia into a peaceful town where people can enjoy a bowl of oden again.

And when I do, you'd better come and help yourself to a bowl, I do say.

Lyria

Yes sir!

Lyria

When Agastia is peaceful, I promise to bring everyone for some oden! Orchis and Adam too!

Pommern gives Lyria a bright smile.

As they draw closer to the tower, they run into a townsperson who had a strange encounter.

Lecia

Freesia was in those ruins?

Townsperson

It gave me goosebumps! I'd heard she was locked up in a prison.

Townsperson

I was curious, so I took a closer look and she had a girl with her.

Townsperson

It used to be a government laboratory, I guess? But now it's just a bunch of creepy ruins.

Townsperson

Since she went in there with a little girl, I figured something was up.

Townsperson

I knew I had to report it to you right away, Pommern.

Pommern

This information is very helpful. It's people like you who are essential to maintaining order.

Eugen

But now we're talkin' about an abandoned research lab? This is gettin' mighty suspicious.

Rosetta

If it was worth taking a hostage along, then it must be a key place, I suppose.

Lecia

It's not that far from here, so should we go and take a look at the ruins?

Lecia

We might be able to figure out what Freesia's up to this time.

Fresh footprints of imperial soldiers are found at the abandoned area, and Lyria detects faint traces of dark essence belonging to Freesia. Preparing for the worst, the party makes their way toward the tower where Orchis is being held.

Gran and the crew visit the ruins where Freesia was last seen.

Unfortunately, they find that the ruins leave no clues to help them.

It's, like, completely empty here.

There's nothing left, but there used to be something here.

Rosetta

It seems that way. There are some unnatural traces left behind.

Rosetta

Undoubtedly, something was here not too long ago.

Pommern

Hm.

Lecia

What is it, Captain Pommern?

Pommern looks puzzled as he points to an area on the ground.

Pommern

Footprints.

Pommern

Without a doubt, these footprints were made by empire-issued military gear, I do say.

Rackam

But this place used to be a government lab. It's not unusual to see a soldier's footprint or two, right?

Pommern

Even so, these footprints are too fresh.

The crew seems confused, but just then, Lyria senses something.

Lyria

It's here. It's faint, but dark essence remains.

Vyrn

Yikes. Then that means that we're about to battle something big like last time.

Lyria

And there's more. It's Freesia's dark essence.

Lyria

But it's out of control?

Lyria grows silent, and a chill fills the air.

The crew prepares for the worst as they set off again for the tower.

Gran and company finally come face to face with Freesia who discovers that Lyria is unable to summon Akasha. She decides to look for Akasha on her own, and runs away with Orchis in tow to escape from the top of the tower, but the crew is hot on her heels.

Freesia

You're here, which means you got my message.

Lyria

...

Gran and the crew enter the tower in central Agastia and find Freesia waiting for them.

Orchis

You all came.

Freesia

Where's Akasha? Or do you intend to use Lyria's power to summon it here?

Dialogue Option

We won't summon Akasha.

Freesia

You won't summon it?

Katalina

It appears that Akasha has been properly sealed away.

Katalina

So even if we used Lyria's power, it can't respond.

We won't hand over Akasha.

Freesia

Oh? So it matters not what happens to the girl?

Pushed into a corner by the crew, Freesia transforms using dark essence as she intends to end it all here. The final battle is about to unfold.

Of course. And until I find it, you're not going anywhere.

Orchis

I don't plan on going along quietly, you know.

Freesia

Humph. You'll think twice if you know what's good for you.

Freesia

Suddenly, Freesia begins to moan painfully before crumpling to the floor holding her head.

Freesia

Ah... nghh... aaah!

Orchis

Are you all right? Just wait. I'll get you something right away.

Freesia

Gasp... gasp... quiet, you!

Freesia

Don't you torture me another minute with her face!

Orchis

Freesia.

Freesia catches her breath and slowly begins to stand.

Freesia, defeated, makes one final attempt at Orchis's life, but she is stopped by Lloyd, who was brought to the tower by Orchid. Afterwards, the crew obtains the map piece they had been looking for, but learn that Drang has been captured. And so, Gran's journey slowly approaches a new juncture.

Freesia

Haa... Haa...

Gran and the crew defeat Freesia and her dark essence.

Freesia is in critical condition but very much alive.

Freesia

Haa... Haa... I guess you have no intention of killing me.

Lyria

...

Freesia

How arrogant... how arrogant of you! Nghh!

Orchis

Freesia!

Orchis moves straightaway to help Freesia, who's lost her balance.

Orchis

Freesia...

Freesia

Ah, you're just like her. How wretched you are in that way...

Vyrn

Hey! Be careful!

Freesia draws Orchis near before pulling out a knife she had kept hidden on her.

Orchis

Lyria

Orchis!

Gran and the others reach out to save Orchis, but the knife plunges toward her back far too quickly.

However, Freesia's hand stops in midair as if controlled by something.

Freesia

Nghh! What's happening?

Freesia, still clenching the knife, glances over to find her arm caught in a number of tiny strings.

The strings lead to a young girl behind Freesia who slowly approaches them.

Orchid

I won't lose anyone ever again.

Orchid

I'll show you. I'll protect everything.

Lyria

Orchid!

Orchis

Orchid...

Orchid

Long time no see.

Huh? But why? I thought you'd gone on a journey.

Orchid

I returned as soon as I heard that Orchis was taken.

Eugen

Wait, you just came from the door leading to the dock.

Eugen

How'd you do that? Did you land up top on an airship?

Orchid

No, I heard about what was happening and climbed the outside of the tower.

Orchid

Because now, I have power.

Orchid gestures toward the thin, long strings extending from her fingers.

That just goes to show you shouldn't underestimate girls.

Now hold on there. How'd you climb a tower this high?

Lecia

That might be a little difficult to consider if you're thinking logically.

The crew's in a daze as Freesia glares coldly at Orchid.

Freesia

You won't... You won't stop me with the likes of strings!

With the last of her power, Freesia transforms and breaks Orchid's threads.

Freesia

If you dare stand in my way, I'll fight you as well!

Freesia sets her eyes on Orchid, who stands calm and still.

But just as Freesia moves to strike, Orchid mumbles quietly.

Lloyd

Huh? What's that thing?

Freesia

A golem? You think you can stand up against the power of my dark essence with that toy?

Orchid

Yes, because Lloyd has power within it.

And in the next instant, Lloyd swings a giant fist toward Freesia.

Lecia

It toppled her. In one swing.

Freesia

Impossible... How could a golem have such power?

Freesia can't hide her shock. Lyria looks up at Lloyd with a curious gaze.

I sense something strange about this golem.

Lyria

It's sort of like a primal beast. Like a primal beast I've met before.

Lyria places a hand to her chest as if searching for something.

Lyria

Yes, it's a lot like the power of Akasha.

Freesia

Orchis

Incredible. Lyria can sense it even though it's sealed.

Vyrn

What's going on here?

Orchid

Lyria's right. Akasha's been sealed inside this golem.

Orchid

Lloyd moves using Akasha's power. That's also why it's so strong.

She strained herself a great deal, so she'll probably keep sleeping for a while. But she should be fine.

I believed she'd be all right, but I was worried nonetheless.

After telling us the location of the map piece, she finally let herself rest. At least things are settled for now.

After their battle at Agastia, Gran and the crew visited Mephorash once again.

With Freesia's help, they obtained the Erste map piece sealed within Adam.

Now, the crew is plotting their course for the next island.

Pommern

I just thought I'd drop by since I had time, you see.

Pommern

But I'll be returning to Agastia soon!

Adam

Not too soon though, General Pommern.

Pommern

Ah, Prime Minister Adam...

We still have a mountain of things to discuss in order to establish relations between Mephorash and Agastia.

Pommern

Ah, but the citizens are waiting for me back in Agastia.

Didn't they cheerfully see you off?

After Freesia's defeat, Orchis heard about the peacekeeping efforts of Pommern and his troops.

She then invited them to join the newly formed military of the Erste Kingdom.

Pommern then requested that Agastia be acknowledged as an official territory of Erste.

He was appointed as a general under the condition that he ensures Agastia is no less prosperous than Mephorash.

We've got a lot of map pieces now! It won't be long till we can cross the Grim Basin.

The crew chat excitedly as they plan their journey. But suddenly, an unexpected visitor comes rushing into the room.

Sturm

Thank goodness... you're still on the island.

Lecia

Huh? Aren't you...

Sturm

I need you to help me. No questions asked.

The room falls silent as they wait to hear Sturm's request.

Sturm

Drang... Drang's been captured.

Gran and the crew are shocked, and the air grows heavy.

With this news, Gran and the crew's journey is slowly steered toward a whole new turning point.
