Anissida and Hailak report on their mission and their prisoner. Meanwhile just as Gran, Sturm, and the crew decide to rescue Drang, Lecia is ordered to return to Amalthea alone.

Now, let's hear your report, Anissida.

The Golden Knight turns to face her two soldiers.

Anissida gazes away from the room's furnishings and straightens her posture before speaking.

Anissida

Let's see... Well uh, first of all, there's that crew of skyfarers.

Anissida

The crew had already left Zinkenstill by the time we got there, so we couldn't get a hold of 'em.

Golden Knight

I figured as much, considering I ran into them in the Dydroit Belt.

Anissida

Really? Wow, his kid must be somethin'! What'd you learn?

Golden Knight

I can't say for sure. The True King has been clear on this matter, so I won't dig any deeper into it.

Golden Knight

But I have no doubt we'll meet again. Whether we'll be standing with them or against them is another issue.

The Golden Knight murmurs this in a hopeful tone.

Fearing retribution for what he is about to say, Hailak begins to speak in a remorseful tone.

Hailak

About the documents on how to kill primal beasts...

Golden Knight

I've already heard. You had some unexpected guests.

Hailak

Indeed. As we were fighting, the villagers took notice and began gathering. We had no choice but to retreat.

Hailak

The village is surely on alert now, which means another visit will be difficult for some time.

Hailak bites his lip, preparing himself for the worst.

Hailak

This is an embarrassment to the Istavion Troop. I will accept any punishment you see fit.

Golden Knight

That won't be necessary. I didn't give you these orders expecting complete success.

Golden Knight

The purpose was to track down his legend. And that's no walk in the park.

Golden Knight

But we need to discover how he can kill primals, as only he knows how.

Golden Knight

I look forward to better news next time, Hailak.

Hailak

Understood!

Anissida

How sweet of you, Ally! You Luminaries are a magnanimous bunch, I'll say.

Golden Knight

Please don't call me Ally... And furthermore, you should show a little more respect to your superior.

Anissida

So what are we gonna do about you-know-who?

Anissida sticks a thumb over her shoulder towards the door.

Golden Knight

Sigh... You're asking me...

Golden Knight

But I don't remember telling you to bring back an Erune agent in the first place.

Anissida

Yeah, I know. But that guy seems to have his floppy ears to the ground.

Anissida

I've got a hunch he knows something that could help us out, see?

Anissida

If we ask him the right questions, he might tell us something good. And if he doesn't...

Anissida stops to think for a moment, but then gives up and shrugs her shoulders.

Anissida

Well, he was gettin' in our way. If we rough him up a bit and drop him back in Zinkenstill, he'll serve as a warning to others.

The Golden Knight rolls her eyes at Anissida's sloppy suggestion.

Golden Knight

You're unbelievable... But then again, your instincts are often on the mark.

Golden Knight

Place him in the prison for now. When the time is right, I'll speak with him myself.

Anissida

Okie dokie. Roger that.

And with that, the Erune agent is carried away to his cell.

Meanwhile, the agent's partner explains the situation to Gran and the crew.

Sturm

The last thing I saw was Drang bound up by those two.

Sturm

I'd just been hit pretty hard, so I fell unconscious soon after I saw that.

Sturm

Next thing I know, I'm lying in some villager's home.

Sturm

The villagers said they didn't know where Drang was, but found this beside me.

Sturm holds up a crystal sphere.

Hey, isn't that one of those crystals that goofy guy's always carrying around?

Sturm

Yeah. When you squeeze it, it shines on a point in the sky.

Sturm

I don't know where it's pointing, but it's probably where we can start looking for him.

Sturm

After all, he wouldn't just leave this behind haphazardly.

Sturm

And knowing him, he wouldn't let himself get taken for no reason, either.

Sturm clenches her fist in an effort to steady her trembling.

Sturm

I'm sure he's all right. He might act like an idiot all the time, but when push comes to shove...

Sensing the uneasiness in Sturm's voice, Orchid places her hand on top of Sturm's.

Orchid

Let's go now. Let's go find him.

Orchid

You're right. I'm sure he's just fine.

Orchid

But he left that crystal behind, which means he must want someone to come for him.

Orchid

So we've got to go. We've got to go save him.

Orchid squeezes Sturm's hand reassuringly.

Eugen

Now didn't you say these folks are with the Istavion Troop?

Sturm

That's what Drang had said. The Istavion Troop from Oarlyegrande.

Katalina

Oarlyegrande, eh? Things get more complicated when skydom-crossing authorities are involved.

Sturm

Yeah, and I know I'm in no place to ask this of you.

Sturm

But I need your power to get him back from those two.

Sturm

What do you say, Gran? Will you help me?

Dialogue Option

Of course.

Sturm

Thanks. I owe you one.

Vyrn

When it comes right down to it, he's been on this journey right along with us. We can't just turn our backs on him!

Dialogue Option

Sturm

I see. Not quite convinced, huh?

Lecia

But we can't just ignore this, can we?

Lecia

They were trying to get inside your home in the first place, Gran.

Lyria

We might have to face-off against them sooner or later.

With some nudging from the crew, catboy faa decides to help rescue Drang.

Sturm, Orchid, and the crew are about to head off toward the Grandcypher.

But right as they prepare to leave, a skyfarer comes running into the palace.

Enforcer

Lecia! Oh boy, am I lucky you're still here, ma'am!

Lecia

We're just about to leave the island. What's the matter?

Enforcer

Deputy Monika has given orders that you return to Amalthea at once.

Lecia

Monika said that? Did something happen at Amalthea?

Enforcer

Well, she didn't exactly say it like that. But she did say to come alone.

Lecia

So, in other words...

Rosetta

She's telling you to leave our crew.

Lecia

But why so suddenly? Are you sure she didn't say anything else?

Enforcer

No, it seems the details were too classified for her to share with me.

Rackam

I'm not sure what's going on, but it sounds like it's big.

Lecia

But this just doesn't seem like her. There might be something else going on here.

Lecia

...

Lecia thinks for a bit before turning to face the enforcer.

Lecia

Understood. I'll leave immediately. Do you have an airship ready?

Enforcer

Yes, ma'am! It's standing by!

Lecia

Good. I'll head for the airship soon, so wait there for me.

Enforcer

Roger!

Lecia watches the enforcer run off before turning back toward the crew.

Lecia

My apologies, Gran. I'll be leaving your crew briefly.

Katalina

It's an order from your superior officer, so what can you do? It sounds as if they could use your help there.

Lecia

You're right. In any case, be careful out there!

Lecia

The people who've got Drang sound a bit different from the people we've come across so far.

Gran nods reassuringly at Lecia.

As they depart to rescue Drang, the crew bid farewell to Lecia and leave the city of Mephorash behind them.

Drang's crystal shines toward his location. Eugen mentions that the crystal is very rare and to get it, Drang must be no ordinary skydweller.

Gran and the crew are off to rescue Drang, who's been kidnapped.

They fly through the sky, guided by the light of the crystal sphere Drang left behind.

Sturm

Orchid

He will be all right.

Sturm

You're right, Orchid. I've hardly ever seen him sweat.

Sturm squeezes the crystal sphere.

Suddenly, the light of the sphere shines even stronger as it points toward their destination.

Eugen seems interested in the object and begins to speak.

Eugen

That's a neat little globe you got there, eh?

Eugen

I saw somethin' like that back in the day. It's pretty rare.

Eugen

But to think Drang managed to get his hands on one for an occasion like this. That feller's smarter than I thought.

Sturm

You think so?

Sturm

(Now that I think about it, there's a lot I don't know about him.)

Sturm

(I always thought he was just hard to read...)

Sturm gazes at the sphere in her hand.

Sturm

(This is a sign you want us to come save you, right?)

Sturm

(Then we're on our way. So promise me...)

Sturm

(Promise me you'll hang on, Drang!)

Seeing monsters gather in the ship's path, Sturm unsheathes her sword and prepares for battle.

The crystal's light leads the crew to Silverwind Stretch. The crew believes the Istavion Troop is holding Drang at a secret base there.

Gran and the crew continue to follow the light of Drang's sphere.

After passing by several islands, Rackam starts to worry.

Rackam

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Are you kidding me? Gimme a break here...

Katalina

What is it? Is something wrong with the airship?

Rackam

Nah, the ship's fine. But if we keep going, we're gonna hit some trouble.

Rackam

If that crystal's correct, then your friend's probably held up in Silverwind Stretch.

Lyria

Silverwind Stretch?

Sturm

I've heard of it. It's supposed to be the roughest island in Phantagrande.

Katalina

In fact, it's one of the territories of the giant island of North Vast.

Katalina

Silverwind Stretch is covered in mountains.

Katalina

And a part of its mountain range crosses into the Grim Basin.

Vyrn

Into the Grim Basin, huh? The Dydroit Belt does that too, right?

Katalina

Right. Just like the Dydroit Belt, it's another boundary of the Phantagrande Skydom.

Rackam

Well, it's not like there's anyone who'll try crossing the Grim Basin from Silverwind Stretch anyway.

Rackam

Exploration hasn't turned up much. No one knows what's out there, and no one lives there to find out.

Rackam

See, no explorer ever returns from that place. So it's basically the wild.

Lyria

And Drang is stuck there...

Rosetta

But his kidnappers's hideout is there, isn't it?

Oh right. They wouldn't take him somewhere with nothing at all.

Rackam

You're saying soldiers from another skydom have a secret base on Silverwind Stretch?

Rosetta

Oh my! A secret base? Isn't that exciting!

Rackam

Rescuing someone from a secret base is nothing to get excited about, if you ask me.

Sturm

The Istavion Troop has a secret base, huh?

Vyrn

No matter what the deal is, it sounds like this won't exactly be a piece of cake.

Gran looks over at the mysterious island in the distance.

The crew prepare themselves to face the danger ahead as monsters begin creeping into view.

Drang is escorted from his cell to meet with the Golden Knight. He cleverly tricks her into revealing information, but she seems pleased by his cunning as it may prove useful.

Guided by the light from Drang's crystal, Gran and the crew continue to head toward Silverwind Stretch. Meanwhile...

Drang

...

Drang seems fascinated as he gazes about his prison cell.

Drang

(Ah, I see... So that's why you put a fortress in Silverwind Stretch...)

Drang

(But if memory serves, this isn't the only thing here...)

Anissida

Hey there! Your name's Drang, right? You're lookin' cool as a cucumber!

Drang shrugs before answering.

Drang

Really? You think? It might seem that way, but I'm feeling utterly helpless right now.

Drang

The bread's hard and the soup's too salty! Can I have a word with the chef?

Hailak

If you don't like it, then don't eat it.

Drang

On top of that, I'm so bored! If you're gonna lock me up, then how about some entertainment?

Anissida

Look, we can't do anything about the soup. But we might be able to cure your boredom.

Drang

Oh yeah? What's that mean?

Anissida

We're letting you out. The Golden Knight Alliah Istavion wants to speak with you.

And with that, Anissida and Hailak escort Drang from his cell.

Golden Knight

You're the Erune agent who disrupted the duties of my soldiers, correct?

Golden Knight

I've heard that you're an excellent fighter, and that you've gathered all sorts of information throughout the skydom.

Drang

Really? Not so sure about that.

Golden Knight

What?

Drang

I don't have any information that could possibly compare to what a Luminary from Oarlyegrande would know.

Golden Knight

As a Phantagrande citizen, you seem to have learned a little about other skydoms.

Drang

Hm? I'm a Phantagrande citizen? Now I don't remember saying that...

Golden Knight

Fine. Were you born in another skydom then?

Drang

Well, it's not so much another skydom, as I'm sure you'd know. Since you and I are from the same place after all.

Golden Knight

Oh! Now that's a surprise. But now it all makes sense.

Golden Knight

You're from Oarlyegrande, which explains why you know who we are...

Drang

Oops. I fibbed.

Golden Knight

What!

Drang

Which means, you really are from Oarlyegrande?

Drang

Of course! So each of the Luminary Knights oversees the skydom where they're from?

Anissida

Ha-ha! This guy's a hoot and a half, eh?

Hailak

Anissida! This isn't funny! Let's get rid of this insolent fool already!

Golden Knight

No. I like his moxie.

Drang

Why, thank you!

Drang

Perhaps now I can request that you go a little easy on the salt? I'd really appreciate it!

Alliah narrows her eyes as she observes Drang.

She is unable to read his motives, but she is curious about him nonetheless.

The crew decides to meet at the mountain peak in case they get separated. A monster soon appears in their path to the top.

Rackam

So this is Silverwind Stretch...

Hey, don'cha think it's kinda cold? Like freezing!

Eugen

I guess this is why they call it the harshest land in Phantagrande.

Eugen

Can't get much explorin' done in a place as snowy as this, eh?

Lyria

I could catch a cold just standing here.

Katalina

Are you all right, Lyria?
Looks like we can't stick around here for long.

Gran and the crew meet the fierce winds and snow of Silverwind Stretch.

The crew is taken aback by the harsh environment.

Orchid glances over at the crystal sphere in Sturm's hand.

Orchid

But the light is pointing somewhere in the distance.

Sturm

Yeah. Drang must be up ahead.

Sturm gazes at a giant snow-covered mountain rising into the clouds.

Vyrn

Yikes... We're gonna climb that thing? That's the biggest mountain I've ever seen!

Rosetta

And in a snowstorm like this we could easily get lost.

Rosetta

Before we climb, it may be best to decide on a meeting place in case there's trouble.

But it all looks the same with all this snow piled up.

Katalina

And the mountain itself is enormous, so the foot of the mountain is quite an expanse.

Rackam

So then, should we just start climbing?

Rackam squints through the wind and snow at the distant mountaintop.

Rackam

If we get lost, just keep heading for the top and we'll meet up eventually.

Eugen

Ha-ha-ha! Bit of a crude plan you got there, but it's not half bad!

Katalina

But we should make sure we don't get lost in the first place.

Katalina

Everyone, keep a constant eye out on who's around you.

With Katalina's orders, everyone nods and looks around at each other.

Sturm

Good. Now we just follow this light.

Sturm

Rackam

W-what is it!

Hey! Something's coming this way!

Io points ahead at a shadow speeding its way toward the crew.

Katalina

Is that a monster?

Katalina stares at the monster which, at first, appears to be a creature commonly found throughout Phantagrande.

However, she soon notices something strange about it and grips her sword.

Katalina

Huh? W-wait, is that what I think it is?

Giant Monster

Groarrr!

Were these monsters always this big?

Rosetta

Not all of them are the same, you know. There are big ones, little ones, and some in between.

Rosetta

Even those of the same type are never the exact same size.

Rackam

This goes beyond size here! It's like a whole other species!

While Gran and the crew stand there flustered, Sturm coolly pulls out her blade.

Sturm

Who cares? Whatever monster stands in our way, we'll still take it down.

Sturm

Let's move, Gran. Don't be scared of this big bully!

Katalina thinks the monsters on Silverwind Stretch have grown massive to adapt to the harsh environment. Lyria senses the presence of a primal beast on the island.

Giant Monster

Grrr...

Sturm

Humph. Big or small, it's still a monster in the end.

But what's a giant monster like that doing here?

Suddenly, Katalina begins to murmur as if recalling something.

Katalina

I've heard that harsh environments cause creatures to evolve into massive sizes.

Eugen

Oy, oy, are you sayin' that all the monsters out here are larger than life?

Lyria

T-that might not be the only thing...

Sturm

What?

Lyria

I sense a primal beast. And it's incredibly powerful...

The crew gulp all at once.

Katalina

From the sound of it, this rescue mission won't be as simple as we'd hoped.

As she speaks, Katalina looks up at the foggy mountaintop.

Hardship awaits on the path to the top. Even without the wind's harsh breeze, the mountain itself sends a terrifying chill through the crew.
