Rosetta says that after the incident at the Grim Basin, she was pulled to Bestia by Echidna's powers. A primal beast arrives and tells Echidna that two other primals are fighting elsewhere on the island. Gran and the others offer to go and stop the fight. On the way there, Rosetta explains that Echidna is telling the truth about her powers and her strong belief in her role as a mother to all.

Gran and the crew are reunited with Rosetta on Bestia Island.

After learning about the crew's ordeal so far, Rosetta explains the island's background.

Katalina

So, in other words, the reason behind Lyria's powers acting strangely and Rosetta's appearance on this island...

Katalina

It's all due to the powers you wield?

Echidna

Mm-hmm! Since I have a pact with Bestia, my powers reach every corner of the island.

Echidna

As such all creatures, including primals, can live here freely under Mommy's protection.

Rackam

Yeah, but what's with all this Mommy stuff?

Echidna

It's my very being—the meaning of my existence. And as one who can provide mothership to all...

Echidna

Every primal beast, every person, animal, or monster... Everyone is my precious child.

She gives a serene smile before continuing to speak.

Echidna

Of course, being a primal myself, my greatest influence is over primal beasts...

Echidna

But how about it? Would you mind calling me Mommy and—

Rosetta

I think that's about enough. We're getting way off topic...

Echidna

Oh, dear... I guess you're right. We must hurry and celebrate being reunited with your crew!

Rackam

I've got a feeling this train just got even more off track...

But we all found each other again. And that's the good part!

I was a little scared that you'd be in another faraway sky...

Echidna murmurs quietly as she watches the exchange.

Echidna

You've all had quite a harsh journey before making it this far...

Io changes the subject in hopes of brightening the mood.

So? How exactly did you get here, Rosetta?

Rosetta

Oh, yes... You could say I was pulled here, rather than swept up, I suppose.

Echidna

It's an ability I possess as a mother. I can comfort and guide my children who've been hurt.

Echidna

Maybe Rosetta was drawn to Bestia Island because she needed that comfort...

No matter how she arrived on the island, Gran and the others are glad to see Rosetta safe and sound.

Tiamat

Cain is murmuring as he gazes up at the sky where Tiamat is floating gracefully.

Cain

So this is proof... Proof of the journey you and your crew have endured.

Cain

You're incredible, Gran!

As a warrior myself, I understand better than anyone else the significance of your crew's achievements.

As Echidna readies herself to cook, primal beasts from all around begin gathering to help.

The scene appears much like a mother in a kitchen surrounded by children eager to lend a hand.

Is this the family Her Majesty was hinting at?

Lyria

Oh! But we should help out too...

Never you mind. You're the guests of honor today. So just sit tight and—

Oh? What's wrong? Did something happen?

Echidna comforts the upset primal beast.

Echidna

Oh, my... You had a fight? I keep asking everyone to play nice with each other...

Echidna wears a slight frown as she turns to go deeper into the island.

Echidna

Sorry! There's a small squabble that I have to clear up...

Katalina

Well, would you mind leaving that to us instead?

Katalina

It's the least we could do, what with all you're doing for us.

Echidna

Oh? I'm not sure...

Rosetta

Katalina has a point. It's unfair to have them wait around, and I could show them the island along the way.

Echidna

You think so? Well, I suppose that would be all right.

Echidna

I'm sure it's just a little misunderstanding, so after you calm them down, let them talk it out.

And with that piece of advice, Gran and the others set off to find the quarreling primals.

Katalina

All right, Rosetta. Do you mind explaining what's going on here once again?

Lyria

Huh? Sorry, what does that mean exactly?

Rosetta

Well, I sort of got carried away with Echidna there...

Rosetta

But that's why you offered to clear up this spat between the primals, right?

Rosetta

So we could get away from her and talk amongst ourselves.

Katalina nods in response.

But the others are surprised to see Rosetta shake her head.

Rosetta

Fortunately everything she said was true. There wasn't even a single white lie.

Rosetta

And the fuss she's making about this celebration is out of the sheer goodness of her heart.

Rosetta

Actually... It's more accurate to call it the sheer force of her instincts.

Rosetta

After all, she was created to be a mother...

There's a brief silence as the others reflect on Rosetta's words.

Lyria

A mother...

Katalina

Rackam

What was that!

A sudden shockwave rumbling through the ground is soon followed by a bright flash of light.

It's coming from over there!

Io points toward two primal beasts that are staring each other down.

Rackam

Guess we're just in time for round one of this match...

Leona

And they don't look like they're in the mood to talk this out either.

Dialogue Option

Let's cool 'em off first!

Lucky for you, playing rough is my specialty.

Vyrn

Whatever we do, we've gotta stop them from fighting first! After that we'll hear them out!

While resolving the primals' squabble, Eugen appears from the shadows before Gran and the others. After introducing him to Echidna, Gran and the crew decide to leave Bestia and continue their journey. But Echidna wants their allied primals to have their own say, ordering that they all face-off against each other before making a decision.

Mm-hmm...

Mm-hmm... I see now.

After jumping in to stop a fight between two primals, Gran and the others have the beasts talk it out.

Vyrn

So what's going on? What are they saying?

Lyria

Let's see... It seems they both saw a weird shadow nearby.

Lyria

They were spooked by it and ended up bumping into each other.

Lyria

Then one thing led to another and they ended up in an argument, I guess.

Cain

A weird shadow, you say?

Is it still around here somewhere? If so, then we can sniff it out and get to the bottom of this.

???

Nah... I don't think that'll be necessary.

Rackam

That voice!

Gran and the crew turn to find the familiar face of an old friend.

Eugen

You'll pardon me, eh? Had no idea it'd turn out like this...

Eugen

I wanted to stop the fight too, but there was nothin' I could do all by myself.

Eugen

I know I caused you some trouble. And I'm sorry for givin' them primals a spook too.

Dialogue Option

Glad to see you're all right!

Eugen

Ha-ha! You know it! But don't you ever go doubting a veteran like me. I'm glad to see you all in one piece though!

Eugen

From the looks of it, I guess I'm the last one to catch up to the crew, eh?

Gran breathes a heavy sigh of relief after finally finding the last lost crew member.

Lyria

All we have left to find is Sturm, Drang, and Orchid, right?

Katalina

Yes. Hopefully they're somewhere safe and sound as well.

After sparing a few thoughts for those still missing, Gran and the others tell Eugen of their journey so far.

Rosetta

But it's quite a surprise seeing you on Bestia. Did you end up here right after the Grim Basin incident?

Eugen

Nay... I landed on a tiny island about the size of a village.

Eugen

After that, I got a few jobs as a wandering skyfarer and put together any information I could find about you folks.

Eugen

Eventually I heard about an island called the Primal Beast Paradise.

Eugen

Figured I'd come here and maybe I'd run into Rosetta or Lyria at least.

Eugen

Then after this place, I'd start up another search for those of ya I couldn't get any clues about.

Eugen

But the whole gang's practically here! Comin' here paid off better than I thought.

Although they survived the trip to Nalhegrande, Gran and the others are stunned to hear about Eugen's tribulations.

Katalina

I don't know what to say... Your story is the roughest out of all the crew here.

Dialogue Option

You're a real tough guy!

Eugen

Ha-ha! What else do you expect from a skyfarer?

Eugen

If you use what you got to earn your keep, you can survive in any sky.

Dialogue Option

You're a real strong-willed guy!

Eugen

Ha-ha! Sounds like you're calling me hardheaded too, eh?

Eugen

When you've been a skyfarer as long as I have, there's nothin' to it.

So should we head back to see Echidna?

The primals beasts have made up, and we need to introduce her to Eugen.

Rosetta

That's true. I'm sure she'll be happy to hear that we've found another one of our friends too.

Rosetta

Indeed... She's a mother who truly cares for her children.

Echidna

Oh my, oh my! Is that what happened?

Echidna

Then you must be Eugen, yes?

Eugen

Aye... Real sorry about that. I seem to have caused a problem for your primals.

Echidna

Oh, but your friends here were able to stop my children before those two could hurt each other.

Echidna smiles gently at Eugen, but he begins to wince.

Eugen

A mother, eh?

Eugen

(I don't think I've ever had a straight talk with Apollo about that woman...)

Rackam

Oh? What's wrong, Eugen?

Eugen

Nope, nothin' wrong here...

Eugen shakes his head in an effort to rid himself of gloomy thoughts.

Eugen

Now which island are we off to next? There's still a few folks missin', eh? Got any clues?

Dialogue Option

Nope...

Lyria

We've got nothing to go on. I wonder where we should go...

Katalina

We need a direction to search in. So first we find clues on possible whereabouts.

Dialogue Option

We'll get some.

Vyrn

Right! We haven't come up with any clues really.

Vyrn

But it's just a matter of keeping up the search!

Eugen

Ha-ha! That's the attitude that'll pull us through!

Eugen

As long as we keep travelin', what we need will find its way to us naturally.

Dialogue Option

Then let's carry on the journey!

Vyrn

Oh, yeah! There's no point in slowing down here!

The reunion ignites a renewed resolve amongst Gran and the crew to move forward in their journey.

But Echidna gazes upon the others with sorrow in her eyes.

Echidna

Why... Why would you keep going?

Rackam

Huh? What do you mean, why? I mean, we're a crew of skyfarers.

Echidna

I can tell that the primals you've traveled with care for you all very dearly.

Echidna

They care for you so much that they want to always be with you. Even so... Will you continue on?

Dialogue Option

I don't follow your meaning.

Katalina

I'm sorry... But what are you trying to say exactly?

Echidna

We're all concerned about your well-being. We know how hard you fight every day.

Echidna

Besides... There's more to it than that. I wish for the happiness of those primals too.

Echidna

They were born to be weapons, and through surviving the War, they came to know pain and sadness.

Echidna

So wouldn't it be better if they could just forget about battle and live in peace and joy?

Echidna

And if so... Why would you choose now to guide them back into a battlefield?

Echidna, the beloved mother of primal beasts, makes a heartbreaking appeal to the crew.

Gran and the crew are at a loss for words.

Echidna

I suppose... not even that would stop you from going.

Echidna's gaze is unblinking as she watches Gran nod confidently in response.

Echidna

I see. Then if you say that you will take these primals with you on your journey...

Echidna

Then I want you to face-off against them once again. This is the wish of your one and only dearest Mommy...

Echidna's expression is steely as she voices her demand to Gran.

With a new challenge placed before them, Gran and the crew meet a new turning point in their adventure.

Gran and the others head off to battle Leviathan and Tiamat. Rackam and Eugen reflect on their first encounter with the primals and the trials they faced together.

Gran and the others make their way deeper into Bestia Island in order to battle the primals they once defeated.

There's one thing you must trust me about. And it's that I'm not doing this to hinder your journey.

Echidna

You are all my precious children that I want to protect. That's why I'm hoping you'll reconsider.

Echidna

There's more than one path to happiness. And finding happiness in peace away from battle is not worthless.

Echidna

One can find joy without having to fight or struggle. Winning isn't everything.

Echidna

And it's not only them I speak of. The same goes for all of you.

Echidna's gaze is solemn as she makes her next plea to Gran.

Echidna

Won't you stay here? Stay here with Mommy? I'll make sure you're always happy.

I see... You've made up your mind then.

Dialogue Option

No thanks.

Echidna

I see... You've made up your mind then.

Her eyes are cast down for brief moment.

But in the next instant, her sad expression is replaced by a stern gaze and she continues to speak.

Echidna

I'm a primal beast who commands motherhood...

Echidna

But even so, I can't force a certain path upon you.

Echidna

Keeping a young bird from leaving the nest is not something a good mother would do. Although it saddens me...

Echidna

But what I can do is direct you toward the right path.

Echidna

I don't want my children to miss a single prospect—to pass up a seed of happiness.

Katalina

You mean a mother's duty is to broaden the possibilities for her children...

Echidna

Primal beasts were formed as weapons, you see. But the War has ended. The Astrals have gone.

Echidna

Wouldn't it be nice if they could throw away all reminders of that purpose and keep away from battle?

Echidna

There's no need to stay tied to their origin. And it won't even matter once they can let go of it.

Echidna's voice shakes as she tries to hold back her tears.

Rackam cautiously opens his mouth to answer.

Rackam

But even though you feel that way, aren't you the one that's keeping them tied here?

Yeah, which is it?

Echidna

I suppose... I've even thought so myself. But a mother's feelings will always be contradictory.

Echidna

Even now I want to wish you well on your journey while at the same time hold you back from it.

Echidna

I think that's what love is, really.

Having admitted to her conflicting emotions, Echidna's demeanor turns brighter as she continues to speak.

Echidna

As I said before, I—that is, a mother—can't force a certain path upon her children.

Echidna

That's why I want both you and those primal children to face each other—so that I know you'll be ready for the path ahead.

Echidna

Mommy's sorry for being a worrywart. But you'll do this for me, won't you?

Echidna

We take our battles seriously.

Echidna

Thank you... I know they're hoping as much from you.

The crew sets off to face their journey-bound primals in combat that would determine their future course.

Up ahead... I sense Tiamat and Leviathan.

Rackam

They're first up, huh?

Eugen

That reminds me... Both of those primals were highly respected by the citizens they protected.

Katalina

Thinking back on Port Breeze and Auguste, we just barely stopped the disasters.

Vyrn

When it comes to our crew, stopping disasters is almost all we do!

You've got a point, but I don't think we'll look back on any of it and laugh...

Rosetta

Yes, looking back at our journey, these primals were certainly right to worry.

Gran and the crew take a moment to reflect on their travels so far.

Rackam

To protect Port Breeze, we had to battle Tiamat to keep her from rampaging.

Eugen

Auguste was about to meet the same fate. We fought to protect both the people and Leviathan's honor.

Rackam

You know, now I wonder what those two really think about our travels.

Eugen

Ha-ha! After that one battle, I think Leviathan and I might've come to understand each other.

Eugen

But right now I haven't got a clue what it's thinking.

Lyria

That's why we have to go up against each other once more. So that we're prepared for the road ahead.

Katalina turns her gaze toward Cain, Leona, and Reinhardtzar.

Katalina

Now are you sure about this? Although we would welcome your assistance...

Katalina

This matter is on our shoulders. You ended up being dragged into it.

Cain scratches his head, having realized that Katalina's made an interesting point.

Cain

Well... When you put it that way, you're absolutely right, I guess.

Cain

But come on, we can't just turn tail after coming this far with all of you!

Leona

There's that... And Her Majesty ordered us to help you and your crew after all.

Reinhardtzar

I'm only here to follow General Idiot's orders. That's all I'm in a position to do...

Don't sweat it! Now, let's hurry, Gran! Those two are waiting just up ahead, right?

With their spirits raised, Gran and the others trek toward the primal beasts.

Tiamat

Whoa... It's been a long time since we've stood face-to-face like this.

Eugen

Little missy, you mind askin' these two what they're feelin' right now?

Lyria

Okay...

Tiamat

Leviathan

Lyria

They want us to show them our resolve. Stronger and greater than our first encounter...

As if confirming her message, Tiamat and Leviathan move into battle stances.

Eugen

Ha-ha, I see... I see it now! If we're gonna retest our bonds, then it's back to the beginning.

Rackam

Then let's show 'em... Show 'em how strong our will has become!

Having received Leviathan and Tiamat's blessing, Gran and the others set off to battle Colossus and Yggdrasil. Knowing that they both met with pain in their awakening, Rosetta and Io resolve to show them how strong they've become to see them through the trials ahead.

With Gran and the crew having proven their will, Tiamat and Leviathan return to Lyria deeply satisfied.

Rackam

Our journey was never ours alone...

Eugen

It's a real shame to think we went so long takin' allies like these for granted, eh?

Lyria

Let's be sure to walk the road ahead all together then!

Gran and the others make their way to the next battle.

Lyria

I sense them... Now it's Colossus and Yggdrasil who are waiting nearby, it seems.

Rosetta

I wonder what they could be thinking of us and the path we've taken this far...

Oh! I just remembered that those two have a connection.

Rosetta

That's right. Both of them were forced awake from a long and peaceful slumber.

Rosetta

And surely those awakenings were far from pleasant for them...

There's a sense of uneasiness in Rosetta's murmuring as she stares vacantly into the distant sky.

Rosetta

Yggdrasil... If only she'd been left to sleep, she never would've met with such agony.

Rosetta begins to recall the tense battle against Yggdrasil Malice.

Rosetta

If only... If only I'd never come to Lumacie...

Rosetta, we should be getting ready to challenge Yggdrasil, but you're making me madder at you!

Rosetta

Io!

Yggdrasil was smiling! She was smiling till the end.

And that could only be because she's always believed in you.

But if you don't believe in her too, how do you think she'll feel then?

Rosetta is stunned, but the light soon returns to her eyes.

Even Colossus made it through okay. I just know that it understood my master's true intentions!

I mean, Colossus did fall under control of some bad guys...

But my master's feelings were pure in the beginning! I know Colossus understood that.

Lifting her head, Io puts a hand to her heart.

So let's get a move on! Even if you're unsure, dillydallying around here is still a waste of time!

If you've got time to worry, then you might as well face it head on!

No matter how scary the answer may be...

A worried expression appears on Io's face for a moment before she places a hand on top of Rosetta's.

Your friends are here with you. So everything will turn out just fine... okay?

Io smiles up at Rosetta, whose expression softens into her usual grin.

Rosetta

I suppose you're right. It was silly of me to get worked up over something that's all in my head.

Rosetta

Shall we go then—to face not only our past but our future as well?

Colossus

...

Yggdrasil

...

Lyria

Both Colossus and Yggdrasil say they aren't so much bothered by the past anymore.

Lyria

But they're... worried?
Worried about us...

Rosetta

...

Out of pure instinct, Rosetta reaches out for Yggdrasil in order to hear the primal's feelings for herself.

Rosetta

Yes, indeed... It's true.

What is she telling you?

Rosetta

Each one of these primals has experienced the dark hearts of people.

Rosetta

But by the same token, they've both come to care dearly for people.

Rosetta

The path before us will surely lead to all sorts of vile things.

Rosetta

And it's for those things that Colossus and Yggdrasil worry about us.

Vyrn

So they're just scared of us getting hurt, plain and simple?

Rosetta

Yes... You could put it that way.

Upon hearing this, Io's expression blossoms into a huge smile.

All right... That means there's only one thing to do!

Listen up, Colossus and Yggdrasil! I promise we won't lose to anyone no matter how bad they are!

And that's no lip service... Just look how strong we've grown after all this time!

So give us your best shot! Try and topple our strength as one!

This is the only way you'll feel better about the journey waiting up ahead, right?

Yggdrasil

...!

Colossus and Yggdrasil react as if Io's words were the sign they'd been waiting for. Without a moment's hesitation, they both move into battle stances.

Rosetta

We can't let them doubt for a second how powerful we've truly become.

Just watch! I'll show 'em I'm not the same old Io they used to know!

Having defeated Colossus and Yggdrasil, Gran and the others turn back to report to Echidna of their continuing journey. Meanwhile a battleship carrying Gilbert, the Scarlet Knight, and the Golden Knight has landed on the island.

Colossus

Yggdrasil

...

With their worries put to rest, Colossus and Yggdrasil return to Lyria relieved.

I hope that put Colossus and Yggdrasil at ease...

Rosetta

You can be sure of that. They understood the depth of our feelings, power, and intentions.

Io and Rosetta turn to each other and smile.

Vyrn

I was sweatin' bullets thinking about having to fight these primals all over again.

Vyrn

But when all's said and done, this was probably for our own good.

Lyria

I think you're right. As much as we care about our friends standing here...

Lyria places a hand over the glinting jewel on her chest, focusing on the steady heartbeat beneath it.

Lyria

We can't forget the precious allies who've carried us this far.

Vyrn

Yeah! So let's hightail it back and see Echidna!

Vyrn

We've gotta let her know that we and the primals worked it out and made our decision!

Gran and the others nod in response before making their way back to see Echidna.

Meanwhile, a battleship has landed elsewhere on Bestia Island.

Gilbert

Whew... We finally made it.

Scarlet Knight

Gilbert

Hm... But we certainly had a few stops along the way.

Gilbert

There's no need to make a huge deal out of this, so shall we go ahead and begin?

Gilbert takes a few steps forward and then, in a grand gesture, raises his hands toward the sky before resting them on his hips.

Gilbert

It's all over for this skydom... A new prologue starts here and now.

Gilbert

This is where the fabric of the sky itself will be torn seam by seam until there's nothing left.

Gilbert surveys the lush island landscape before him.

But he sees not a verdant panorama but instead a paradise engulfed in the flames of his sinister ambition.
