While Rackam and Eugen are enduring their trials, Gilbert addresses a crowd of Rhem citizens. Gilbert's despotic plans are falling into place with the growing support for war and the elimination of a cabinet minister as well as a resistance group. Meanwhile in Idelva Kingdom, Bai Ze reports to Pholia that they've lost contact with a spy in Rhem Kingdom. Pholia orders the security level to be increased.

Rackam and Eugen are still on Groz Island enduring a challenging trial.

But in Rhem Kingdom, Gilbert is addressing a crowd of citizens as a representative of the king.

Gilbert

As you are all aware, relations between Rhem and Idelva have become increasingly tense.

Gilbert

Despite the looming threat to our peace, we have—by His Majesty's grace—been able to avoid conflict.

Gilbert

But now we've discovered that Idelva has enlisted a dubious crew of skyfarers from another skydom to their side...

Gilbert

And they had the audacity to violently seize from us the airship bestowed to the kingdom by the Violet Knight.

Shock and outrage begins to verbally reverberate though the crowd.

Gilbert

This is clearly an attack against our nation by the Idelva Kingdom.

Gilbert

At this rate, a direct assault on our land is not entirely out of the question.

Gilbert

Keep in mind that Idelva is a country with a short history; its current leader is also its founder.

Gilbert

But Rhem Kingdom has been continuously ruled by a blood lineage that can be traced back to the nobles of the Torhid Kingdom...

Gilbert

And we shall not allow an infantile regime to continue their campaign of insolence against us!

Gilbert's ardent words are met with cheers and applause.

Gilbert

Given Idelva's actions thus far, it is inevitable that our two nations will engage in an all-out war.

Gilbert

And when the time comes, we'll teach those cowards a lesson about the true greatness of our historic nation...

Gilbert

A lesson about the unyielding pride of its subjects!

Gilbert ends his speech at the height of the fervor in the crowd and leaves the podium.

His words ignite a flame that begins to feed off of the citizens' animosity toward the neighboring kingdom.

And as the fire intensifies, so does their desire to go to war.

Rhem Soldier

Lord Gilbert. You gave an excellent address just now.

Rhem Soldier

By the looks of the crowd, the public will be demanding an attack on Idelva before we know it.

Gilbert

I only spoke as a representative of His Majesty. And the fever that's come over our citizens is but a sincere plea to their leader.

Gilbert

After all, no one would chose to ignore a suspicious neighbor.

Gilbert

Now then, don't you have something to report?

Rhem Soldier

Sir! The plan was successfully executed. The cabinet minister is currently being detained.

Rhem Soldier

Once we've arranged evidence to prove that it's Idelva's doing, we'll follow through with the assassination.

Rhem Soldier

With that evidence in place, we believe that authorities will easily conclude that Idelva was behind it.

Gilbert

Splendid...

Gilbert

Now what about the resistance group we discussed?

Rhem Soldier

They're no longer a problem. It seems they met with an accident...

Gilbert

I see... Well done.

Rhem Soldier

If this plays out, then the neutralists and the anti-war supporters will lose their unifying cabinet leader, and both sides will crumble.

Gilbert

As for a new leader to unify them... Well, it'll be years before those sides come together again.

Gilbert

With the resistance group out of our way, we're in the clear...

We have a spy... likely from Idelva. After he slipped into our army, he made his way here to eavesdrop on our conversation from the corner.

I've seen to it that he's no longer breathing, so get rid of the body—and be discreet about it.

Y-yes, sir!

Several days later Pholia is in the throne room when she receives an unsettling report.

Pholia

Our spy has ceased regular contact?

Bai Ze

The spy infiltrated Rhem's army but has yet to give us a report. It's well past the agreed date of contact.

Bai Ze

It's still possible that the spy may have met with an incident or be inescapably delayed...

Pholia

Regardless of that, if our spy cannot reach us then we should assume that something has happened.

Pholia

And the spy was deep within their army... That fact alone gives me a bad feeling about all this.

Pholia

Continue checking for contact from the spy. Make the other spies there aware of this development and gather information.

Pholia

A plot may already be in the works... Which leaves the possibility of an invasion from Rhem.

Pholia

Tell our forces to increase the security level of the main island.

Bai Ze

As you wish.

Pholia

I can only hope that this will all turn out to be needless worrying...

Pholia murmurs quietly to herself as she looks up to the high ceiling of the throne room.

Beyond it, lurking somewhere in the Nalhegrande sky, a woeful storm is about to make its descent.

Gran and the others watch over Eugen and Rackam for three days. Meanwhile Leona is secretly rummaging through a stack of papers in the Volkshield Palace hoping to find proof of Pholia's crimes. When Pholia suddenly appears, Leona admits to what she was doing. Instead of scolding her, Pholia unleashes a power over Leona, leaving her dazed.

Vyrn

Look... Are we sure this'll turn out all right?

On Groz Island Vyrn and Gran chat worriedly amongst themselves.

All the while Rackam and Eugen sleep quietly before them.

I'm also starting to wonder if they're okay...

In order to reach supreme enlightenment, Rackam and Eugen have temporarily made pacts with primals through Zeyen's powers.

The pact forces the two to fall into a deep slumber where they remain at this moment.

Zeyen

Although it's only temporary, they are fully connected with their primal beasts.

Zeyen

In other words, they have realized complete fusion.

Zeyen

As such their sense of time is vastly distorted from ours.

But there is no need to worry about either of them falling into fatal danger or harm.

But it was a shock to see the two primals being absorbed into their bodies.

Vyrn looks on in worry at his fellow crew members who appear to be sleeping soundly.

When you consider that, the idea of skydwellers meddling with primal beasts is not so surprising.

And if you trace their origins, the sky realm and the Astral realm are not distant existences.

Gilbert's words play over and over again in the back of her mind.

Gilbert

The Sovereign Pholia has sin on her hands. And Idelva Kingdom, the very monarchy that you serve, was realized through that sin.

Leona

What could he have meant?

After thinking for a bit, she suddenly shakes her head as if to clear it.

Leona

No, this is ridiculous... It was just a lie to put doubt in our heads.

Leona

And this is Gilbert we're talking about. If I just keep my faith in Her Majesty...

Gilbert

This is an opportunity to take your just revenge—all you have to do is expose her transgressions.

Leona

What?

Gilbert

I don't believe I stuttered. Whether you believe my words or not is your choice.

Gilbert

All I'm suggesting is that this could be a way to liberate yourself from the thoughts of your beloved that keep you imprisoned so.

Leona seems unsure of how to respond until finally she bows her head to the sovereign.

Leona

Well, I'm... I'm sorry. It's just that on Bestia Island...

Leona tells the two what Gilbert said and admits to digging for information about Pholia.

Leona

I'm very sorry... I know that this is an act of disloyalty toward Your Majesty. I accept any punishment you see fit...

Pholia

No... That will not be necessary. I knew this time would come and prepared myself as such.

Leona is visibly shocked, but Pholia pays her no mind as she begins to address her advisor.

Pholia

Bai Ze... Release your power.

Bai Ze

Your Majesty, a thousand pardons, but the seams will be ripped, causing everything to crumble...

Bai Ze

As a leader of a nation... The sovereign of Idelva, I ask that you consider this wisely.

Pholia

But, my dear Bai Ze, this was decided from the beginning. Surely you know this!

Bai Ze

But Your Majesty...

Pholia

Idelva has prospered greatly. Quite possibly to the extent that the nation could be governed by anyone.

Pholia

As long as there are people to rule, a leader can be endlessly replaced. But a sovereign is nothing without their subjects.

Pholia

I must admit that it pains me to have to say this to you...

Bai Ze seems defeated, but decides to press her one last time.

Bai Ze

Are you quite sure about this, Your Majesty?

Pholia

Indeed. I may be a sovereign, but I refuse to become like my father.

Pholia

Now, Leona. Could you kneel before Bai Ze and lower your head?

Leona

Huh? Oh, of course...

Leona positions herself in front of the primal beast and bows her head.

Bai Ze

Whoa!

Bai Ze gently touches Leona, but in an instant, a bright flash lights up the room. Leona jumps to her feet.

Leona

What was that?

Pholia

Hm... Listen well, Leona. You went looking for information about me in secret...

Pholia

But I will not stop you from continuing to look. In fact, you should keep searching until your heart is content.

Pholia

So that you may reach the truth you desire...

Without another word Pholia turns to leave the room. Bai Ze follows right behind her.

Leona is left alone once again, dazed amongst piles of paper.

After driving back the other Rackam, Rackam and Tiamat enter an empty town in Port Breeze. After a thorough search, the two eventually find townsfolk taking shelter in a building. The townsfolk explain that Tiamat has gone on a rampage, making Rackam finally realize the world in which they've arrived. A rumble rolls through, signaling that the island is beginning to crumble. Rackam and Tiamat seek out the other Rackam in hopes of saving Port Breeze.

After driving back the other Rackam, Rackam and Tiamat enter a town in Port Breeze.

But they soon find that the town is empty of residents, with only a stark silence filling the air.

Rackam

If there's a storm comin', then it's no surprise that no one's walkin' about outside...

Rackam takes a glance around at the buildings forming the town.

Rackam

But that can't be it... There are no signs of life here at all.

Rackam

(It feels like there used to be people here though...)

Rackam carefully surveys the town for anything of note.

His eyes are drawn to the remains of a market abandoned during the storm.

Rackam

(Did everyone just evacuate without packing up their stuff?)

Rackam

(The canvases and carts are all over the place. Even the goods are just sitting around...)

Rackam

That's no way to do business...

Rackam mumbles this as he begins scouring the open tents.

Tiamat

...

Rackam

No, wind-for-brains! Why would I be lootin' at a time like this?

Rackam continues scouring a few more tents before he settles on a conclusion.

Rackam

I knew it... The only goods missin' here are the ones that would sell.

Rackam

(But none of the goods or even the tents were properly packed up...)

Rackam

Which means that they only took what they absolutely needed and ran off, huh?

Rackam

They ran off... They all ran away. But what were they runnin' from?

Tiamat looks as puzzled as Rackam.

Rackam

We still don't have enough info to go on... But it looks like an outline of this picture is comin' together.

Rackam

If the townsfolk were runnin' from something, then there's not much time left till it shows up.

Rackam

We've gotta figure out what's goin' on here in Port Breeze.

Rackam and Tiamat turn to walk deeper into the town.

Rackam

No luck here. There's no one inside either.

The two are searching for townsfolk by investigating every building that could be used as shelter.

But as each building turns up empty, Rackam grows more and more perplexed.

Rackam

(This is mighty strange... Port Breeze is a trading hub. This town should be full of people...)

Rackam

(We've been to almost every place that could be used as a shelter...)

Rackam

(But every single one has turned up empty...)

Rackam

(And they can't all be holed up in one place...)

Rackam

This only means one thing... But could it really be that everyone abandoned the town entirely?

As the island's guardian, Tiamat's expression turns sorrowful upon hearing this.

Tiamat

...

Rackam

Don't feel bad. It's not like they left because they hated the place.

Rackam

They had no choice but to leave in a hurry. There's no reason for you to fret over it.

As Rackam speaks the two head over to the only building they've yet to investigate.

Rackam

All right... This is the last place where we might find some folks in all this confusion...

Islander 1

H-hey! Is that you, Rackam?

Rackam finds a small group of people gathered inside the last building.

Rackam

Heh heh! So this is where you were all this time?

Rackam

But I've gotta admit, there are fewer people here than I expected...

Islander 1

Well, of course. In the end we just couldn't evacuate from here...

But you decided to stick around too, Rackam! I mean, that's the kind of guy you are anyway...

Pardon... I'm afraid I don't quite understand what's goin' on...

Some group from the empire came and set off Tiamat on purpose. I heard their Harvin general bragging about it.

Islander 2

But nobody knows what to do about a primal beast, see...

So everyone hopped aboard their airships and left the island.

Islander 2

But we've got this storm. Who knows how many of those airships made it to the next island?

Islander 1

On top of that, the empire is attacking any airship trying to escape.

Islander 1

Since the storm has gotten pretty strong, it seems the empire finally decided to leave Port Breeze.

Islander 1

Which means that with every moment we're getting closer to the destruction of the island...

I wanted to stay behind since it's my homeland and it has a special place in my heart...

But the end's getting closer... And that's scary stuff.

Rackam continues to listen to the people as they finish their stories.

But it's clear that everyone left here has chosen to share their fate with the island itself.

Rackam

I've got it now... This is a world where we were just too late...

Rackam

A world where me and the crew couldn't do anything to help...

Rackam

Or maybe a world where Gran and Lyria never made it here...

Tiamat

I don't know the reasons behind it, but I've finally got a grasp of the situation...

Everyone looks around at each other nervously. Just then a man barges into the room.

Islander 3

It's h-happening! The archipelago has started to crumble!

Islander 3

I saw it from Ungud Castle... The edge of Eingana Island is crumbling and being swallowed up by the wind.

Islander 3

It's only a matter of time before it reaches us...

The room is suddenly filled with voices murmuring in anguish.

Islander 2

This is it for Port Breeze. And for all of us...

Islander 2

I wish I could've seen that clear blue sky just one more time...

Islander 1

Blast it... Just tell me why... Why is this happening?

Rackam

(Right now we know at least two big things that are off about all this...)

Rackam

(The first is that there's another me in this world...)

Tiamat

(The second is that there's another primal beast that's on a rampage...)

(The circumstances in the Port Breeze of this world are clearly different from the one we know...)

(This could mean that I have a key to fixing all this based on the different outcome I lived...)

Rackam takes a quick look at the dispirited islanders in the shelter before turning toward the exit.

Rackam

I don't care what world this is—there's no way I'm lettin' this island sink to the bottom of the sky!

Rackam

We're gonna rescue it! We're not too late...

So first let's find that other Rackam!

Tiamat is moved by Rackam's determination and nods eagerly in agreement.

In order to save Port Breeze, a man and a primal beast rush into the eye of a storm.

Eugen visits a hill where he recalls a special memory of Artemisia. He meets Leviathan there and asks if the primal beast knows how they can return to their world, but the primal has no answer. The Black Knight suddenly appears before Eugen and reveals that she is the key to their return and will be waiting to hear his final choice.

Eugen

All right... I'll be back.

Artemisia

Take care! When do you think you'll be home?

Eugen

Ah... Good question. I've got a feeling today is gonna be vexing, so I might be a little late...

Eugen

Sorry... Leavin' you here alone and all.

Artemisia

Oh, I'm not alone! I have my child with me.

Artemisia looks down as she gently rubs her round belly.

Artemisia

Apollo and I will be waiting for you. Be careful of monsters at night!

Eugen

Artemisia... I, uh...

Artemisia

Eugen

Never mind... It's nothin'. I'll be back later.

Eugen walks out the door, leaving behind the expecting mother.

Eugen

Eugen tries to muster his determination, but his thoughts keep falling to Artemisia.

Eugen

(This isn't reality! This isn't how the story went...)

Eugen continues to fight with himself as he makes his way through the Tzannis Plateau.

Eugen arrives at the top of a hill by the sea, said to be the best place in Auguste to see the water.

Eugen

Here's far enough...

Eugen

Oh, now wait... I'm here...

Eugen gazes out at the water, suddenly remembering something that happened there on the hill.

Eugen

(It was here... This is the place where I scattered Artemisia's ashes into the sea...)

Eugen

She really loved the sea...

While Artemisia was alive, she made a request in her will.

She asked that her body be cremated, and that Eugen scatter her ashes into the waters of Auguste.

Eugen

I spread the ashes... And then we had our last goodbye right here...

The scenery from this hill has been deeply etched in Eugen's memory as a gravesite.

With the memory and the familiar sea weighing on his heart, Eugen begins to speak again.

Eugen

Say, Leviathan... You're there, right?

Eugen

If you are, then hear me out... How can I get back to my world?

As if in answer, the waves begin to chop and rise, and a dragon starts to take form.

Leviathan

Eugen

Leviathan... You see... I've got to get back to my world somehow.

Eugen

This world is like the past but not. It's different from reality.

Eugen

And then there's the temporary pact that Zeyen was talking about...

Eugen

I think this all has somethin' to do with you and I being connected.

Eugen

Leviathan seems to whimper as it shakes its head, unable to be of help.

Then maybe it means the key in this world is something outside both you and me.

Eugen

So I guess finding that key is the first clue to escaping this place, eh?

Having spoken with Leviathan, Eugen tries to think of any possible pieces of the puzzle to search for.

But his thoughts are interrupted by a low, unfriendly voice.

Black Knight?

There's no need to search. I won't run and I won't hide.

Eugen

Apollo? How did you—

Black Knight?

Don't get me wrong. This form is borrowed. I'm not the real Apollo after all.

Eugen

What? Then what are you?

Black Knight?

I am the sin you carry... A symbol of this world, you could say.

Black Knight?

I came to hear your choice... To hear your answer, Eugen.

Black Knight?

I am the key you seek... The core of this ideal world in which you stand.

Eugen is left speechless at the words of the black-armored knight.

And soon enough a cruel decision will be thrust upon him.
