Explaining that there are other unruined skies, Tau'luk asks for the Violet Knight's assistance to save the world from annihilation. Though the Otherworld uses the providence of death and destruction to interfere with these many Sky Realms, Tau'luk claims the Violet Knight can have some manner of revenge by preventing the collapse of a certain sky.

The wind carries an ownerless whining across the broken sky, providing a melancholic accompaniment as the two men continue their conversation.

Violet Knight

Let's get to the main course. What is it you want me to do, Your Majesty?

Tau'luk

I need to save the sky from destruction. And to do that, I need your help.

Violet Knight

You're a bit late. Barely any sky left in this hellhole.

Tau'luk

I do not disagree. This world is beyond rescue...

Tau'luk

However, there is another sky. One that is still whole.

Violet Knight

...

Tau'luk

I don't have the power to make up for your lost time or your lost family.

Tau'luk

But I can provide you with a way to get revenge on the Otherworld.

Violet Knight

By going to... this other sky?

Tau'luk

Yes, one in which I did not become fodder for a Great Wall of any kind.

Violet Knight

Right. Because you're the still-alive True King of that sky.

Tau'luk

Precisely.

Violet Knight

Then that suggests there's a whole 'nother Otherworld causing havoc over there too, right?

Tau'luk

I cannot say for certain.

Tau'luk

Though there are many skies, each unique in their own right, destruction always catches up to creation. That is providence.

Tau'luk

The Otherworld uses this unchanging principle to interfere with the many versions of the sky, wreaking death wherever they land.

Violet Knight

I think I'm picking up what you're putting down.

Violet Knight

If we save your world—stop the Otherworld from doing their destruction thing—it'll be revenge for my home sky.

Tau'luk

Indeed.

Violet Knight

Interesting. Very interesting.

The crew arrives in Tranquio, an island that enjoys vibrant agricultural and mineral industries thanks to the influence of the composite primal beast Dryad. They take in the scenery while walking toward the island center, eventually arriving at the base of a great tree that houses the viceroy's office.

After a long journey, the crew have arrived on Tranquio Island.

They've come to survey the island in preparation for a new waterworks system and to retrieve another piece of the Sky Map.

Vyrn

So how do we go about doin' a survey anyway?

Octavia

We'll leave the particulars to the build team. First, let's head to the viceroy's office.

They leave the various experts to do their work and head to the central part of the island.

Lyria

This is such a peaceful place.

Katalina

It really is. They say its main industries are farming and ranching. It feels like time passes more slowly here than in the city.

I heard they have mines and smithies to the south. I bet there's more bustle on that end of the island.

Rackam

If the local craftspeople are anything like the smiths of Valtz, I'd say they're probably full of spunk.

The crew continue happily discussing their impressions of this new island, almost as if they have been transported back to simpler days.

With nostalgia on their hearts, they continue walking to the central zone.

Rosetta

Does this place remind anyone else of Lumacie? I feel like I'm having deja vu.

Lyria

Now that you mention, it does! Octavia, do you know which primal is pact bound to the island?

Octavia

The composite primal beast Dryad. She is the one responsible for the island's rich resources.

Octavia

She nurtures life on the island while turning expired flora and fauna into minerals. Her powers prop up our kingdom.

Rosetta

So she assists the plants and the land? Her ability to manipulate nature reminds me of Yggdrasil.

Octavia

They do share a fair amount of qualities.

Octavia

I have heard that Yggdrasil's island is a place resplendent with nature.

Octavia

I imagine that it is a lovely place. I hope that I can visit one day.

The Green Knight looks up wistfully at a giant tree which grows over the central part of the island.

Gran follows her eyes, mouth agape. The canopy stretches high into the sky space above the island.

Eugen

Uh, Ms. Green Knight. Where is the viceroy's office?

Octavia

Inside this tree. See the doors and windows in its trunk? The entrance should be—

At the roots of the great tree, flowers bloom, wreathing a massive, lone gate which seems to open on its own.

Octavia

There. It seems Dryad welcomes you, my liege.

Without further ado, the crew enters the hollow of the softly lit tree.

In the viceroy's office, the crew meets the viceroy's assistant and the composite primal beast Dryad. They learn the viceroy passed away, leaving behind his last will and testament: a wish to transfer the local government from the crown to the people. Gran, respecting the will of the people, permits this major change. It dawns on the captain that all it took was a nod to modify this island's future forever.

Viceroy's Assistant

I humbly welcome you to our island, Your Majesty.

Viceroy's Assistant

I see... Tranquio's waterways could do with an upgrade. But I was under the impression you had come to discuss the next viceroy...

The assistant guides them to a set of stairs, where they begin to ascend toward the more formal chambers.

Octavia

As I suspected, the island chafes against the idea of appointing a new viceroy.

Viceroy's Assistant

With all due respect, the late viceroy's last decree was to entrust the governance of the island to the populace. We seek to adhere.

Gran presses for more information and learns that Tranquio's viceroy passed away after having lived a full life.

Afterwards, the local islanders wanted to fulfill the viceroy's dying wish of implementing a more democratic form of government.

Viceroy's Assistant

These were the viceroy's chambers, where Dryad also resides.

Dryad

Lyria

So you're Dryad...

Rosetta

It's a pleasure, Dryad. You and the old viceroy have done an excellent job guiding the island from this room.

Dryad

...

A purple-haired figure leans against a coffin situated in the middle of the room. She acknowledges Rosetta's comment with a smile and bow.

Dryad

Lyria

Oh... That... that's where the viceroy is sleeping, isn't it?

Viceroy's Assistant

Yes... He was so fond of these halls. It only seemed fitting we make this his final resting place.

Viceroy's Assistant

For the people of this island, the viceroy was one of a kind. It would break the soul of this island to assign a new viceroy after his loss. Your Majesty, you must forgive our insolence.

The assistant bows deeply before the king. Gran is unsure how to respond.

Vyrn

Who knows if this is good or bad... Glad I'm not in your shoes, bud.

Eugen

Well, when I think back to what happened on Duat, maybe tryin' something new ain't so bad...

Eugen

Didn't somebody high up once say people need to observe laws by their own accord or whatever? If the islanders are on board, why not leave 'em be?

Eugen

What do you think, Green Knight?

Octavia

Indeed. The former king held the same thoughts.

Octavia

He once decreed, "So long as Tranquio's contribution and support to this kingdom remain true and willful, I shall not interfere with their independence."

The Green Knight looks at Gran for a reaction.

Recognizing the implicit signal, Gran nods in approval.

Viceroy's Assistant

What a relief! Thank you, Your Majesty!

Octavia

Now, we have to discuss Tranquio's immediate future.

With a mere nod of the head, Gran has changed an island's government forever.

That a nearly imperceptible twitch can usher in an irrefutable law... The feeling sits uncomfortably in Gran's stomach.

After leaving the viceroy's office, the crew comes across the team of waterworks professionals making reasonable progress. The sight of self-reliant skydwellers is exactly what the former king wanted for his subjects. The crew discusses whether the democratization of the island would pose a problem for the country, but the Green Knight insists the king "saw through everything." Soon after, Gran gets a glimpse of this same perspective.

After finishing their visit to the viceroy's office, the crew exits the great tree where an excited pair of experts comes rushing up to them.

Architect

Your Majesty! Forgive me for the interruption, but I've finished creating blueprints for the water system!

Geologist

We held a town hall with the residents, and after incorporating all of the feedback, this is our framework. What do you think?

Gran collects the blueprint and spreads it open so the Green Knight can get the full view.

Octavia

It's not bad. We'll use this proposal as a base while fleshing out the details.

A quick nod signals Gran's approval. With new pride, the architect and the geologist scurry off to begin their project in earnest.

Vyrn

Those guys are really hyped, huh? It's like you don't even have to lift a finger...

Dialogue Option

They're very reliable.

Octavia

Yes, truly. Eugen hit it on the head earlier.

Octavia

The former king endeavored to provide a kingdom shaped by its subjects' own will.

Dialogue Option

I'm definitely a figurehead...

Octavia

My liege, don't be discouraged. You were appointed so suddenly. You mustn't get ahead of yourself.

Octavia

Truth be told, the former king expressed similar concerns himself.

Octavia

You have nothing to worry about. I will do my utmost to help you. Please ask me whenever you need to.

This place really flips my mental image of Istavion on its head... I thought it was just a scary, tragic kind of kingdom.

Katalina

Well, it's earned its tyrannical reputation. I'm told the former king was quite the authoritarian in the beginning.

Octavia

It's true he took a heavy approach to unite and control the populace. But he had his reasons...

Octavia

He would say, "We stand our own feet; we pave our own futures. That is what gives skydwellers the power to protect their homes."

Octavia

In fact he planned to give up the throne one day—after sufficient expansion and civic groundwork had been laid, of course.

Eugen

Okay, sure... But talk is cheap. Where's the proof he thought leaving governance to the people was for the best?

Rackam

Yeah. The bigger your population gets, the more unrest there is. The Blue Liberation Front is a great example.

Octavia

The former king saw everything from his throne. And I do not mean that figuratively.

Vyrn

Then how do you mean it? He only has two eyes.

Octavia

Yes, but he truly saw all. I brought you here, my liege, to illustrate this point.

Octavia has revealed the true meaning of their visit to Tranquio Island, but the crew look to each other in confusion.

But before the Green Knight can elaborate further...

Lyria

Ah...

Lyria, witnessing Dryad descending from the great tree's canopy on a swing made of vines, lets out a small astonished yelp.

Dryad

Rosetta

You've come to see us off? No? Then what's the matter, dear?

Dryad

...

Dryad bows to Gran and extends a hand glowing in muted light.

Lyria

Is this... a Sky Map piece?

Octavia

My liege, please take it.

Dryad

...

Dryad unfurls her fingers to reveal a brilliant fragment of the Sky Map resting in her palm.

The moment Gran's fingers graze the piece...

Viceroy's Assistant

Good news, my lord. Did you hear? The new king granted your dying wish...

Geologist

Yes sir! We'll pump water from an underground spring to a man-made reservoir.

Architect

Now to shore up our materials. Hmm, where does one find pipes around these parts?

Rackam

H-hey! Are you okay, Gran?

A thousand fractured visions seem to coalesce, returning Gran to the present moment. The captain shudders.

Lyria

Did you see something?

Octavia

Do not fear. My liege has just caught a glimpse of Dryad's vision, courtesy of the Sky Map piece.

Octavia

Congratulations are in order, my liege. We are closer to completing the King's Testament.

Octavia

Now only two Sky Map pieces are left: those of Wakwaaq and Edan Islands.

Octavia

Once you have perfected the King's Eye, you will bear witness to not only the complete condition of your country, but also the invisible hand that threatens the sky...

The Green Knight speaks as if the entire trip was a pretext for this moment.

Her voice reverberates within Gran, instilling within the young captain a sense of awe and discomfort.
